Lifetime Achievement Award: Ken Mochizuki

Aiming to become a writer, Ken Mochizuki first worked as staff writer/assistant editor for the Seattle newspapers International Examiner and North American Post. Beginning in the early '90s, he became the author of children's picture books, leading off with the popular and award-winning "Baseball Saved Us." Mochizuki continued writing books for young readers and went on to write nonfiction books, exhibits and conduct presentations on APA history around the country. As he said, "If it uses words, I do it."
