Kathy Im is the Director of Journalism and Media at the MacArthur Foundation, where she leads a $30 million annual portfolio that invests in nonprofit investigative reporting, press freedom and protections, documentary storytelling, and civic media. She was instrumental in the launch of Press Forward, a major philanthropic initiative to restore local news, and serves on the Advisory Boards of UC Berkeley School of Journalism, where she is currently the Chair, and the Media Forward Fund in Europe. Previously, Kathy was a board member of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Media Impact Funders, the Center for Asian American Media, and the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy, and a former juror for the Peabody Awards.
