ABOUT THE WORK: One of the trash sites was located in San Bernardino County and after this story aired, we followed up and were told the county was actively coordinating with different agencies to determine the process of green waste-related properties, including the site were included in our story. Also, in a response for our story, Athens Services, a major trash company in Los Angeles, said they go through “a comprehensive process” to ensure their organic material isn’t dumped illegally. The City of Los Angeles also said they would continue to work with their trash vendors to ensure they comply with their contractual agreements.
